PRECOURSE WORK MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO CLASS: https://elearning.heart.org/course/424 

NEW 2020 Version Prerequisites:  Must be proficient in BLS skills AND complete the ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work through eLearning.heart.orgAllow 3-4 hours to complete the pretest and required online videos (must score 70% or better, but may be retaken if necessary). Successful completion of the ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work will result in the certificate needed for admission to the in-person component of the course. There will be 2.5 hours of CE/CEU/CME awarded to those who are in healthcare professions that qualify (2.75 hours for EMS personnel).

Prerequisites:  Must be proficient in BLS skills; must complete the ACLS Pretest with 70% or better before attending class.

Class duration: Up to 8 hours at maximum attendance, may vary depending on number of students attending.

Audience:  Advanced Cardiovasular Life Support (ACLS) is designed to provide education to a wide variety of healthcare students, medical professionals, EMS, and other personnel working in healthcare occupations where this training is required.

What is covered:  Team dynamics and communication, systems of care, management of cardiac arrhythimas, resuscitation, and the immediate post-cardiac arrest care are covered with special emphasis on the prevention of cardiac arrest.

Completion card:  ACLS Provider eCard is issued immediately at the end of class; eCard is valid for two years.

You are required per AHA course regulations to have the current 2020 -edition provider manual for this class.

If you plan on using a digital version (eBook) of the Provider Manual, please be aware that we do not provide device charging stations or WiFi services. You must ensure that your material is accessible and downloaded to your charged device and can be used offline. You must present the cover screen of the digital book on your device at class check-in if electing this option.

Note:  If you purchase a book it will be available the day of class. If you'd like it before that, you can contact the instructor and make arrangements to pick it up. 

Failure to complete the precourse work, and the required submission of the certificate of completion will not allow you to attend this class.

Audience:  Basic Life Support (BLS) is designed to provide education to a wide variety of healthcare students, medical professionals, EMS, and other personnel working in healthcare occupations.    

What is covered:  The ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and  relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner are the main highlights of the curriculum. 

Written Exam: The BLS written test is administered online through eLearning.heart.org, and a specific keycode link will be provided to each student after successful completion of the hands-on part of the course. There are 2 attempts allowed to score 84% or better to pass the final assessment. It is open-book and not time-limited.

Completion card:  The BLS Provider eCard is issued when the student completes the examination online and completes the required survey. The eCard will be issued as soon as the certificate is validated by the next business day or sooner. The BLS eCard is valid for two years.

Notes:  Part 1 of this course is taken ONLINE through eLearning.Heart.org with the access code supplied with your registration. The in-person Skills Session (Parts 2 and 3) will be completed at one of our training facilities after completing Part 1 and scheduling a Skills Session for Parts 2 and 3.  Instructions for registering for the skills session are provided in the confirmation email sent after registering.

Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens Online is a comprehensive eLearning program that teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials.

After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of taking the Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens course
  • Define bloodborne pathogens
  • Describe the four main steps for staying safe when facing an occupational exposure
  • Discuss how universal precautions, personal protective equipment, and handwashing can protect them from infection
  • Recognize warning signs and labels for biohazards
  • Recall how to safely remove gloves
  • Discuss how to dispose of sharps and other blood-containing items
  • Identify the types of spills and methods to clean them
  • Discuss their exposure control plan

  • Students have the convenience of completing the course at their own pace at work, home, or wherever Internet access is available.

Audience:  The course is designed for participants who would like to gain the basic skills needed that can help to treat basic injuries and/or prevent further injury, and is designed for those lay-rescuer participants who would like to gain the basic skills needed to perform basic CPR on adults, children, and infants, including the use of an AED.  The course is designed for participants who would like to gain the basic skills needed that might save a life in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

This course is open to all participants, and does not require any prior medical knowledge or healthcare background.  Our course covers treatment of children and infants as well, making this the ideal course for virtually anyone who may deal with others in a situation at home, work, or while traveling where an injury has occurred.

What is covered:  The Heartsaver® program includes the fundamental concepts of rendering basic first aid as needed for selected medical emergencies (breathing, choking, allergic reactions, stroke, seizure, etc.), injuries (wounds, burns, broken bones, etc.), and environmental emergencies (animal / insect bites, heat / cold, poison, etc.), and includes the fundamental concepts of providing high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED).     

Completion card:  First Aid CPR AED eCard is issued immediately at the end of the course, your eCard is valid for two years.

The Emergency Medical Responder course prepares the EMR student to provide prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMRs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, and special considerations for working in the prehospital setting, 

TWO IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

1. Once you register here, make sure you follow the following instructions to register on Acadis, we will send a reminder email 7-14 days before the course.  Failure to register on the acadis site will result in you not being able to test and ultimatley recieve the certification from IDHS. 

2. You MUST Complete your Violation statement on acadis AFTER YOU REGISTER. You will see it in your "training in progress" section on the Home page of acadis once you are logged in.  Failure to complete the violation statement will result in not being able to recieve the certification from IDHS. 

 If you do not have a public safety ID (PSID) You can aquire one here: https://www.in.gov/dhs/fire-and-building-safety/public-safety-identification-psid-information/    PSIDs will need to be aquired prior to the day of class

The following information is used for individuals registering for a course using the Acadis Portal.
Registration
1) Prior to registering for a course, you must have a PSID number. If you do not have a PSID number, you can request one at the following link:
a) http://www.in.gov/dhs/3207.htm
b) Fill out form on website from above link
c) Email will be received with username and temporary password
2) Once you have a PSID number, open a web browser and go to the following link:
a) https://acadisportal.in.gov/AcadisViewer/Login.aspx
3) Using your portal access email and password, log into your account
4) Make sure all your contact information is correct.
a) If not, select manage profile on right side of screen and edit
5) At the top of the screen you will see a tool bar that gives you options
6) Hover mouse over “Training & Events”
a) Scroll down to “Browse or Sign up for Training”
b) If clicked by accident, just select “Browse or Sign up for Training” on next displayed page
7) On the left hand side of your screen you will see a “Refine Your Search Panel”
a) Make sure all boxes are initially un-checked
b) If refinement is needed do so after all items have been made visible
8) Scroll until you locate the course you would like to attend
9) If there are available seats you will see a “Register” link on the right side of the screen
a) Select the “Register” link
10) Confirm information and select “Done”
11) Once you are registered Acadis will take you back to the List of Available Training page

1) To view status of registration select Registration on the top tool bar
2) A menu of courses will be displayed of courses you have registered for
3) Your registration will show the status on the right side of the screen
